The Dementia Awareness Club at App State invites you to a night of music and pizza to promote dementia awareness and to raise funding for a new virtual dementia training tool, which will be utilized to help educate the community.  This event will be held Thursday, March 28th from 5-8pm at the Lost Province Brewing Co. in Boone, NC and will feature the music of the Worthless Son-in-Laws, Barefoot Modern, Leonardo Faillance, Sarah Young, and Enharmonix.

Strong Body, Strong Mind is the new name for our Tai Chi for Arthritis for Fall Prevention programs.  TCAFP is an evidence-based falls prevention program recognized by the CDC, National Council on Aging (NCOA), and U.S. Administration for Community Living. Developed by Dr. Paul Lam at the Tai Chi for Health Institute (TCHI), the program utilizes Tai Chi’s Sun style for its ability to improve relaxation, balance and its ease of use for older adults.

Day Break is a social model, group respite program for caregivers and their care recipiants. This program is designed to provide care recipiants with opportunities to enjoy social and recreational activities in a safe and secure environment.   Day Break meets three times a week: Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 10am-2pm.  Day Break meeting locations are at the Boone United Methodist Church on Mondays and Fridays and Deerfield Ridge Assissted Living on Wednesdays.
