Our region

Our region of focus includes the seven northwestern counties of North Carolina, commonly referred to as the High Country. These counties include Alleghany, Ashe, Avery, Mitchell, Watauga, Wilkes and Yancey. The High Country Area Agency on Aging is part of a larger aging network created by the Older Americans Act.

2020-2024 Area Plan on Aging

The High Country Area Plan on Aging provides an overview of the agency’s goals and objectives for 2020-2024. This plan was created to help the agency better understand the needs of those we serve. A year-long data collection and analysis process was completed, which involved seeking feedback about the current needs of older adults, caregivers, people with disabilities, and other stakeholders who reside and work within the seven-county High Country region.
