The 9th annual Falls Prevention Awareness Day (FPAD) will be observed on September 22, 2016—the first day of fall. This day is meant to raise awareness about how to prevent fall-related injuries among older adults. The theme of this year’s event is Ready, Steady, Balance: Prevent Falls in 2016. The official social media hashtag is #FPAD2016.
Since Falls Prevention Awareness Day was first observed in 2008, we have grown participation in the event from 11 states to 48 states and the District of Columbia in 2015. This year, we hope to expand our reach even further! Keep an eye out for local falls prevention awareness events in your region. Events will be posted on social media, local newspapers and on the radio. If you would like us to help promote your event, email us at firstname.lastname@example.org
