Join us for a 6 week workshop that will focus on learning the Yang 24 tai chi form. Tai chi has many proven health benefits, including increasing balance, building strength and reducing stress.
Class will meet in Room 200 at Boone United Methodist Church on Fridays from 11am-12:3-pm, beginning July 5th and concluding on August 9th.
Developed by Dr. Paul Lam at the Tai Chi for Health Institute (TCHI), the program utilizes Tai Chi’s Sun style for its ability to improve relaxation, balance and its ease of use. The movements are taught to both left and right sides and with turns to move forward and backward to improve mobility and offer a variety of combinations.
Join us for an event featuring music-assisted relaxation with tai chi & meditation. The purpose of this event is to recharge caregivers while providing them tools to incorporate into their daily lives. This workshop is being supported by the Hayes School of Music and the Western Piedmont & High Country Area Agencies on Aging.
The Dementia Awareness Club at App State invites you to a night of music and pizza to promote dementia awareness and to raise funding for a new virtual dementia training tool, which will be utilized to help educate the community. This event will be held Thursday, March 28th from 5-8pm at the Lost Province Brewing Co. in Boone, NC and will feature the music of the Worthless Son-in-Laws, Barefoot Modern, Leonardo Faillance, Sarah Young, and Enharmonix.
Strong Body, Strong Mind is the new name for our Tai Chi for Arthritis for Fall Prevention programs. TCAFP is an evidence-based falls prevention program recognized by the CDC, National Council on Aging (NCOA), and U.S. Administration for Community Living. Developed by Dr. Paul Lam at the Tai Chi for Health Institute (TCHI), the program utilizes Tai Chi’s Sun style for its ability to improve relaxation, balance and its ease of use for older adults.

Tai Chi for Beginners offers a great introduction to Yang Style tai chi, principles of tai chi, and meditation. Tai Chi has been proven to help reduce pain, improve physical and mental function, and help reduce the risk of falls. Pre-registration is highly suggested.

Day Break is a social model, group respite program for caregivers and their care recipiants. This program is designed to provide care recipiants with opportunities to enjoy social and recreational activities in a safe and secure environment. Day Break meets three times a week: Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 10am-2pm. Day Break meeting locations are at the Boone United Methodist Church on Mondays and Fridays and Deerfield Ridge Assissted Living on Wednesdays.
